Inspiration for album cover

This is The Beatles' album cover, which was quite inspirational and gave me many ideas. The whole album cover is animation, which is the concept I hope to engage into our product too. This helps to give the '60's' and old fashioned look I hope we achieve.
Even though the frame is very content with different animated objects, the four band members have been  made evident by being placed at the top of the hill. It is very colourful and eye-catchy - very much what we would like to do!

Album Cover Inspiration

This if one of our original examples of a typical boy band. We didn't pick this for the colours or the background layout but simply for the way the band was presented on the pane. Looking at the positioning of each member, looking at their facial expressions and their body positions. Although we chose not to copy any of these attributes, we did still use the idea of advertising the band on the front pane.

Album Cover Inspiration

This album cover reminds me of the idea of fun and games, reflected in the idea of the pictures of the running man and the aeroplane. The aeroplane makes me thing of holidays which has the stereotype of sun and fun on the beach. The reason for using this as inspiration is the small image of the band in black, in the top, centre of the pane. This is because we had the idea of putting something like this in the top corner of our album cover.

Album Cover Inspiration

This is an album cover. This is similar to the way in which we want our Scouting For Girls album cover to look. It has bright pastel colours that grab the audience's attention. It also has the band shown on the front which again is similar to what we want for our cover. The only difference is that we would like the band in the top corner of our cover because although we want to advertise the band members we want the album name to stand out more. All slide of our album are going to be bright colours that stand out and this album cover inspired us to think of that idea.

Everybody Wants To Be On TV

Above is an image of the album 'Everybody Wants To be on TV' and also the CD that is present inside the album. The cover consists of primary colours such as blue, red, white, black and also the colour yellow. These colours are bright and connote cheesy and fun which are the key themes of pop music. The title of the band is in bold, simple font with a white font colour which contrasts heavily with the blue background to enable the name of the band to stand out. There is an image of an old-fashioned TV with a curvy blonde 80's female on the TV who is dressed in red. This signifies the album title 'Everybody Wants To be on TV' and shows the literal significance of the phrase. Below the cover a track list as this information is key to enable the audience to make an informed decision on whether to purchase the album or not.

Scouting for Girls Poster & Album

Above is photographs of Scouting For Girls poster which promotes the album, the front cover of the album and also the back cover. One can decipher that there is a consistent theme of different shades of cream. The font colour is a dark beige which is the same tone as the image of a rowing boat. The purpose of the boat is that it seems the passengers inside are 'scouting for girls'; as if they are fishing to find girls in the sea. The background seems as if it has a tea-stained effect to create an old-fashioned touch. The poster consists of the conventions of an album poster as it holds information about the album name, reviews from know music associates, two hit singles and also the release date of the album. The front cover is minimulistic and immediately draws the attention of the audience too either the name of the album, or the image. The back cover consists of the general conventions as a barcode is present so the item can be scanned into system at a supermarket. A spine is also present down the side of the cover so that when the album is positioned sideways on the shelf, people can easily read the names of the album rather than taking it out to find out. There is also music companies and music associates at the bottom of the album which is another convention of the back cover of an album.

Title Inspiration

This is an original font I found on a poster promoting Scouting For Girls. I liked the contrast of italics, normal and bold hence why I decided to create my own version which is shown below:

I made this title on the website 'CreateText'.

Inspiration for Poster

I like the concept of embedding silhouettes in our film poster as it looks professional and creates mystery. Unfortunately we cannot use these images as the criteria for our coursework states that the images within the poster has to be self made to avoid copyright. As it is silhouettes, it will be easy for me to draw and I am able to trace the outlines and colour it in with black feltip or coloured feltips depending on the colour scheme.

Album Cover Inspiration

This album cover represents bands everywhere. When making an album cover most bands are on the front somehow. Here we can see that this is common as all members of Take That are shown in this image meaning that it follows typical conventions. For our album cover we want to make sure we follow these conventions and have our band on the front. Also notice in this image the bands name is written large on the front, this follows the conventions of a typical album cover. The band members are all hiding their faces, apart from the singer on the left, this creates a mysterious atmosphere and gives the album that mysterious vibe as well. Also i think the way the rain falls through the people is very cleaver and makes the CD Cover more appling to the audience.

Inspiration for Album Cover

Dirty Dancing is a very famous theatre production. This is the main poster for it. I found the font of this very intriguing as it is very eye-catchy and yet still simple. This links in with our idea very well. I like the style of the font and have found it inspirational to do for our title name style on the album cover.
Since our title is "Famous", this style of writing will intertwine with our concept very well. It almost looks like an autograph being written, which links in with our notion highly.
Our album title will be written on the sunglasses, thus, will look like we have signed it ourselves like an autograph.

Album Cover Inspiration

This album explores the realms of colour. The use of this allows for an attractive cover for fans and acts as an interesting piece of art work. We hope to incorporate this into the production of our album cover as we want to ensure that fans will find it both appealing and interesting, therefore making them more adverse to purchasing such a piece. On the album cover we will be producing we are toying with differentiating and so contrasting colours. We thought of combining a black and white base image with brightly coloured lips or glasses, creating emphasis on them as well as the idea of creating this sense of interest and intrigue.

Inspiration

Besides, Ed Sheeran being an amazing singer and songwriter, he does in fact have some of the most interesting and unique music videos I have beared witness to. Lego House for example explores the idea of deception as we firstly find the actor Rupert Grint to be playing the part of Ed Sheeran when later we find him to be a fan and a bit of a stalker. In this video we also see a clear link between visuals and audio as lego is of a constant use and so we do find his videos to follow some conventions, if not down to the letter. These unique qualities of his music videos are inspirational as it is found that such elements create a great sense of interest as well as a buzz about them. These videos definitely reflect Ed as an artist and so this notion of reflecting the artist will hopefully be conveyed in our music video. However, in our video it will be largely conveying our senses of humor as opposed to our musical skills. This means that our video is likely to be a reflection of us.

Lip Art: Viva La Diva

I researched on  Youtube to find a video to show how to apply rhinostones onto lips. This is the best video I managed to find.

1. Moisturise lips
2. Apply lipstick
3. Blot lips
4. Apply eyelash adhesive onto rhinestone
5. Using a cotton bud apply the rhinesone onto lips
6. Once dry, apply clear lipgloss onto the cupids bow and the lower lip

Inspiration: Crystal Lips Magazine Cover

Katy Perry’s face dazzled the December issue of the American Fashion magazine, Harper’s Bazaar. Katy simply did not look like Katy but more like the iconic artistic image of Marilyn Monroe, shown below:

Katy’s lips were covered in 150 Swarovski crystals for the cover, shot by Alexi Lubomirski. The close-up photo uses intertexuality as it resembles the iconic January 1950 Vogue cover, featuring Jean Patchett photographed by Erwin Blumenfeld.

Inspiration: Crystal Lips

For our album cover, we may have a close up of a girl wearing sunglasses with the title ‘Famous’ either scratched or painted on one glass diagonally. The image will be black and white; however we will have the title of the album and the lips in cover. The lips will be a bright colour such as red or pink, with encrusted with gems and crystals. This is a trendy look which is fashionable at the moment and conveys a bold statement of modern elegance and a feisty attitude.

Artists such as Jessie J have sported this look. An image from her video ‘Do it Like A Dude’ is shown below:

However Jessie J took the punk/rockish look with full black lips and black gems, with silver lipstick and her lips outlined with black spikes. However our look will be more playful and subtle, which will fall under the conventions of the pop genre.

Inspiration - Ke$ha

The way her red lips are conveyed to stand out, I find quite interesting. We hope to do similar but we want the sunglasses to stand out rather than the lips. However, the conceptual idea is the same.

Inspiration - Music Video

This really inspired me mainly through the way they've made sure the simplicity is not boring. This is our key aim to ensure we create something simple but guarantee that it is exciting and memorable.
The record label for this song is "Fueled by Ramen" who are a low budgeted company - similar to us. This allows us to gain ideas from this as it may be more realistic, than other music videos, for us to carry out.
The video is very fun, not too complicated and does not situate in numerous locations. The main shots are taken on an average street, on top of a car and in a pawn shop. This is another aspect that is similar to us, as we do not wish to locate ours in too many places. This is because it gets too confusing and hard to cope with. By doing it in less sites, we are able to focus properly on the scenes and make them the top priority. This will achieve a high quality video rather than focusing too much on where we wish to shoot.
Some of the special effects I liked and hope to do something along the lines of that, when it comes to editing, are; Adam Levine only being shown through the television screens in the pawn shop, the way they have made the shadows formulate a conceptual idea and the use of stop motion in the shadows.

Inspiration

Despite the concept of elephants having nothing to do with the lyrics of the song, this music video is immensely inspirational. It takes the simplest of ideas and transforms it into a masterpiece. The song it in no way amusing, however, the concept of an elephant trying to get to paradise is unbelieveably unique! Like "Famous" by Scouting for Girls, this video puts does not link audio and visuals together in the general sense and so we find that these types of music videos can be immensely successful. This is also an inspiring concept for us as like our intended idea it explores the realms of costumes and so we find it brings an ease to be able to view other and professional works which explore the use of costumes and focus around it to such a degree.

Inspiration - Celebrities

This is a scene from 'California Girls' by Katy Perry. The reason I posted this was to show how unique she makes her music videos, as a result making the work piece very memorable. She has now got a trademark for her over-the-top music videos, her colourful outburst she puts in every video and her bright coloured wigs she wears for almost everything - she possesses her own identity. We hope to attain along the lines of what she does, in order to make our video also exceptional and exclusive. However, due to the fact that our record label is low budgeted, we would need to take that into consideration and we do not want to make it too fancy. I hope for it to express simplicity but in a memorable manner.
