Rough Cut Number 3

We only have one more filming session to go!! All we need now is everything on the judges. We have added in text where we need to add the judges footage so that when it comes to editing, it makes it a lot easier for us to see where we need to place the footage. This helps decrease our editing time and hopefully gets us finished with a final product. 

Edit of Famous with what footage we have so far

This is our second edit of famous with the footage we have already, the gaps left shall be filled with what we have left to film. In some of these gaps we have put text as to remind us what needs to go in where so when it comes to adding the new footage to the timeline it will allow us to edit in a more efficient manner.

Very rough cut of famous...

This is our first rough cut of famous and although does not contain an entire edited version of the song it conveys the basics of our music video. The idea of the levels of comic effect we wanted our video to show are then reflected in this cut. We are using final cut express to compose our images in a manner which allows for the greatest comic effect we find we can muster, hence the use of speed changes in the video, a part which our video largely dwells upon. We also intend to make some use of text and other images in our music video to highlight characters and stereotypes, particularly that of the judges.

Animatic Storyboard

Here we made a storyboard out of posit notes and planned out every little bit of our music video. We worked together to design different sections of the storyboard, this got us working together as a group more and gave us a better understanding of the music video layout. This story board shows the new perspective every-time the camera angle changes/moves position. This animatic is linked in with the music as well, to show exactly when the shot will change and that is timed to perfection. 

Key framing Exercise

Tom Jones

We done this using Final Cut Express. Through this we gained many new skills, which is helping us throughout the course, even now. We are still learning as there are many little, specific features in this programme that we comprehend when we do something new. It's a learning process - we improve each day.

Some of how we edited:
There are 4 main windows that it is divided into, these are: browser, viewer, canvas and timeline. We had to use all 4 as each one has a significant role. The browser is where we got all our clips and sound in a chronological order. What we had to do was drag our sound and clips into the browser from 'finder.' To then be able to visually see the clip we dragged it into the viewer, which enabled us to see the clip clearly. We then dragged the clip into the canvas and timeline in order to begin the editing process. The viewer is where we edited our clips and we were able to see our results in the canvas.
To add effects to our clip, I clicked on the 'effects' tab which displayed several different effect types. This included; video filters, video transitions, audio filters, (etc). Many times we had to use the 'crop tool' as there were unnecessary backgrounds visible.

Pink Panther exercise

We selected a variety of images which by no means typically relate to pink panther, however, we found these images to be good in terms of attempting to edit to the beat. In this exercise there are many quick edits due to the fast paced music. We used markers in order to gain an exact ideal as to where certain points in the music are, which made editing a much easier process.

Tom Jones - Lip Sync

When making the Tom Jones video, we didn't have a plan of how we wanted it to look. We decided we wanted it to be random and fun to watch. By using some of the shots we did, it made the video more entertaining and also worked really well with the music. The hardest bit when editing was the last part when everyone disappears behind the tree. this took us a while to work out how to do it but the end result was fabulous. We did this by overlapping the image of the tree with the filmed version of the people disappearing behind it.
